Nanocoating-konjac application as postharvest handling to extend the shelf life of Siamese oranges

چکیده
Siamese orange fruit is very popular today, driven by the increasing public demand or healthy food. oranges contain bioactive phenolic compounds, carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, and fiber which are good for health. The weakness of their quality declines quickly short shelf life. Postharvest handling with application coatings from natural ingredients to extend life fruits currently needed reduce use synthetic materials. Natural that have potential be used as base materials konjac tubers because they glucomannan polysaccharides compounds can form coatings. purpose this study was determine effect nanocoating-konjacon oranges. research began preparation nanocoating-konjac formula main ingredient nanocoating nano coating-konjac on surface This a completely randomized two-factor design, namely (without coating, nanocoating) storage time (0, 5, 10, 15 days), three replications. Variables observed: Weight loss, number damaged fruits, color, texture, acidity, total soluble solids, water content, vitamin C, plate count. data obtained tested diversity SPSS, if it shows differences test continued Duncan's Multiple Range Test. conclusion nanocoating-konjac, without coating weight dissolved count during storage. recommends postharvest until 10th days.

Postharvest Application of Gum and Mucilage as Edible Coating on Postharvest Life and Quality of Strawberry Fruit
Strawberries have a very thin layer coating that easily disappears and are perishables a lot pre-harvest as such nearly 30 to 40 percent of strawberry fruits will be wasted at interval between harvest and consumption. In this study have been investigated the effect of using psyllium mucilage (Plantago psyllium) in concentrations of 6.25, 12.5 and 25 ml/l as well as Arabic gum and Arjan as edibl...

Background and Objectives: Edible coatings containing natural antimicrobial compounds are appropriate approaches to control the microbial growth and thus improve the quality and shelf-life of fresh, frozen and processed fish products. The aim of this study was to assess effects of aloe vera gel coating containing nanoemulsion of ginger essential oil to extend the shelf life of trout fillets du...
متن کاملThermal postharvest treatments for improving pomegranate quality and shelf life
Sweet pomegranates (Punica granatum L. cv Mollar de Elche) were cold-stored for 90 days. Curing at 33°C and 95% RH for 3 days before continuous storage at 2 or 5°C and 95% RH was tested for reducing chilling injuries. Alternatively, cycles of intermittent warming (IW) of 1 day at 20°C every 6 days at 2 or 5°C were tested. Control fruits were conventionally stored at 2 or 5°C and 95% RH, and a s...

متن کاملThe use of ozone to extend the shelf-life and maintain quality of fresh produce.
Fresh produce has been recognised as a healthy food, thus there is increasing consumer demand for fresh fruit and vegetables. The shelf-life of fresh produce, however, is relatively short and is limited by microbial contamination or visual, textural and nutritional quality loss. There are many methods to reduce/eliminate microorganisms present in food and ozone treatment is one of them. The use...
